Jake is 22y/o and grew up right here in Alpine, CA. (aka God's Country). Jake enjoyed playing soccer & baseball as a youngster. He ultimately graduated from Granite Hills High School where he excelled in football & wrestling. Check out the picture of Jake with his best friend & fellow ARC athlete, Alex, as they line-up to crush someone on Eagles field!
Jake is just a couple months away from graduating from SDSU where he studies Elementary Education & Liberal Studies. Post graduation, Jake will begin work on his teaching credential. In addition to his studies, Jake has two jobs; He coaches JV & Varsity football at Granite Hills & is one of Alpine's favorite Pizza Hut delivery guys.
Jake first started CrossFit right here at ARC one year ago. Since then he is one of our most consistent athletes. It's also rare not to see Jake training side by side with his fiance, Lauren.
I asked Jake why CrossFit is important in his life. He said, "Before doing CrossFit I would injure my knee over & over again. I actually stopped doing squats or any leg movements for that matter. CrossFit helped me to safely strengthen my knee again, which allows me to go on hikes and run again without being in pain."
Jake is acyually being modest. This dude is a beast in the gym. In less than a year, Jake has the following PR's-
Back Squat 325#
Split Jerk 245#
Strict Pull Ups 18
As a coach I am super impressed with Jake and his determination. He regularly attends the Saturday Barbell Class & is one of the most humble and coachable guys in the gym.
Final Words: Jake said, "I love the community here at ARC. It reminds me of going to football & wrestling practice & being with all my teammates."
